Pranjal Dubey – Redesigning Ambitions And Building Role Models

Who: Pranjal Dubey

Education: BE in Computer Science and Engineering

One day, Pranjal Dubey decided he was going to sell his house to pay for his dream – educating youth in rural Madhya Pradesh. The idea came to him when he paid a visit to his parent’s hometown, Sandalpur. While he was there, he began to understand the challenges that youth in that region faced while trying to find jobs and earn a living.

Many of these kids would go to college but not actually learn anything while they were there. According to Pranjal, they could buy the degrees but not the knowledge that comes with them. The resulted in a lot of educated yet unemployable youth.

Pranjal discovered the same problem occurring in the schools. Many students would pass out of high school but they were still not educated to the same level as students in urban areas. To help solve these problems, Pranjal started Sant Singaji Institute of Science and Management (SSISM). The institute was founded to give rural students the chance to earn a degree that really meant something and close all the gaps in their knowledge.

He did face a lot of challenges – funding, attitude towards education, and parents who didn’t care about educating their daughters further. It wasn’t easy but today SSISM is very successful. Part of the reason for this is because Pranjal is a good motivator. He has two policies:

  1. Create dreams and confidence in his students
  2. Create role models for the future students to follow

Many SSISM students work in big-name corporates now all over India. Not only has Pranjal’s dream given them the chance to have their own – but his passion for education has transformed their lives.
